Lavender Hydrosol
Lavender is the one you already know - but much, much better.
It’s the scent everyone recognises, and there’s a reason it’s been in bathroom cupboards for a hundred years. But artificial lavender and actual lavender are two different smells - the real thing is softer and greener, less like a bad candle and more like standing next to the flowers in warm sunny late afternoon.
This is the one I reach for at the end of the day rather than the start of it. Over the pillows before bed. Through the kids’ room after bath time. On my face when it’s been a stressful day and I need to find my exhale.
What it’s good for
• Face - gentle and hydrating, with a soft, settling feel. Good on skin that’s been in the sun or the wind and needs something kind.
• Pillows and linen - the classic use, and still the best one. A light mist over the pillowcase makes the whole bed ready for rest.
• Winding down - a calming scent to end the day with. Spray it around the room while you’re getting ready for bed and let the smell do the signalling.
• Kids and their chaos - soft enough for their sheets, their bath towels, and bodies.
Gathered here in WA and steam-distilled in small batches. It’s a slower way to do it than buying the oil ready-made, but the difference is obvious the moment you smell it.
How to use
Mist onto skin, linen or into the air. Avoid the eyes. Keep it somewhere cool and dark and use within six months of opening - there are no preservatives in it, which is why it smells like the actual plant.
Ingredients
Steam-distilled lavender hydrosol. That’s the whole list.
